Accessibility Statement
Last updated: August 31, 2026
Westchester Kitchen wants this site to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology.
1. The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is a target we work towards continuously rather than a certification, and we describe our current position honestly below.
2. What we have done
- Colour contrast. Body text, headings, buttons, and accent text are checked against their actual backgrounds to meet the 4.5:1 minimum for normal text. Our accent colour uses two different values — a darker one on light backgrounds and a lighter one on dark bands — specifically so it stays readable on both.
- Keyboard navigation. Navigation, menus, filters, forms, and links are reachable and operable with a keyboard, and focused elements show a visible focus indicator.
- Meaningful text alternatives. Product and decorative images carry appropriate alternative text, and images that convey nothing are hidden from screen readers.
- Information not carried by colour alone. For example, the one-to-five price level is drawn as dollar signs but is also announced to screen readers as “Price level N of 5,” so the meaning does not depend on seeing which symbols are filled.
- Structure. Pages use real headings, lists, landmarks, and breadcrumb navigation so assistive technology can move through them predictably.
- Responsive layout. Pages reflow to narrow screens without horizontal scrolling and support browser zoom and text resizing.
3. Known limitations
We would rather tell you where we fall short than claim we are perfect:
- Embedded third-party forms. Our contact form and appointment booking calendar are embedded from GoHighLevel and render inside an iframe. We do not control their markup, so their accessibility is determined by that provider. If one of them is a barrier for you, email us and we will take your enquiry directly.
- Supplier product images. Product photography and some specification text come from manufacturer feeds. Where a supplier provides no useful description, our alternative text may be limited to the product name.
- Large catalog pages. Some collections list thousands of products. We paginate and offer filters, but browsing a very large result set with a screen reader can still be slow.
- PDF estimates. Estimates we generate as PDFs are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. If you need an estimate in an accessible format, ask and we will provide the same information in an accessible alternative.
4. Tell us about a barrier
If you encounter something on this site you cannot use, we want to hear about it — it is the most reliable way we find problems.
It helps if you can tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within five business days, and we will work with you to give you the information or complete the request another way while we fix the underlying issue.
5. Getting help another way
If any part of this site is a barrier, you do not have to use it to work with us. Email us and we will help you browse products, put together a selection, and prepare a quote directly.
6. Ongoing work
We review accessibility as we build. This statement is updated as we make improvements or become aware of new limitations; the “last updated” date above reflects the current version.
